Hello my name is Jack.  My Toku Mahi post means.  My Work.  This post will contain all my online work over the year.  I am 12 years old.  I like motorbikes and building things.  I like to play soccer.  My goal for this year is to get a gold award.

Heaps of people

We had a Turangawaewae Festival in tribute of the different cultures in our school.  Room one and two  organized a kiwiana store.  We sold fizzy drinks , cans , muffins , punch , lollies and sundays.

It was great fun.

AWAROA TRIP

I can not wait to go to AWAROA to go on the boat and the walk to the Tonga Quarry.

Awaroa Recounts

The reasons we went on this trip were:  To learn the history of Awaroa, the Hadfield family and to make history fun.

The journey went from:  Kaiteriteri on the Willson's boat.

The highlights for me were:  Going on the boat, the sting rays and the Meadow bank house.

The benefits for me were:  The exercise, learned some history, to appreciate modern living.

The Little Yellow Digger Reviewed By Jack

Age suitable for 5 -7 years of age.

It has a setting in  a garden on a very stormy day.

Plot

It's about a little yellow digger that was digging a garden drain when it got stuck in the mud.  Then they called in three more diggers and you gest it?    THEY GOT STUCK!!

The main characters are.

 The Little Yellow Digger, Digger, Bigger Digger,Bigger Bigger Digger and the digger drivers. 

My Chosen Character Is

Bigger Bigger Digger because it is the biggest digger in the book and it's yellow.

Why I Chose This Book

I chose this book because I like diggers ***.

I think this is a good book for young ones and people who like diggers or want to just read something simple and easy.

The Man

Crazy pirates

Ready to parade.

We have book week to encourage children to read books and to use the library.

During the week we did a Stop Drop and Read every day.  Other teachers came and read to us.

On parade day we all dressed up in our Book Character costumes and paraded around the town.

We thank Becky for organizing it for us.

RABBIT ISLAND

On the 8th of June a group of year 7 and 8 Parklands students went to the Nelson district cross country at Rabbit Island we travelled in cars.  The course was approximately   2.5 kilometers long with steep teraine and a couple fallen trees to jump.  Quin, Bayley, Adam, Jacob, Jorden and me went for the year eights.  I come 52 out of around 86-90 people.

TREASURE ISLAND

This story starts in the Admiral Benbow, an inn.  Jim  Hawkins (played by Quin) works there.  Billy Bones (played by Shanti) comes to stay.  He has a map.  He was once a pirate, a member of Captain  Flint's crew.  He is visited by Black  Dog ( Stevie )who fights him.  Then the evil Blind Pew  (Sasha ) comes and scares him to death.

Jim gets the map. He gets the Goodies, Dr Livesey (Charley ) Squire Trelawney (Sarah ),  Mr Dance (Shannen ) and they hire a ship called the Hispaniola.  The captain is Captain Smollett(Makayla ) who gets Long John Silver  (Madison ) to collect a crew.  Long John Silver is evil and one of Captain Filnt's pirates.  He collects all the other pirates and away they sail.

On the trip Jim hears of a plot to take the ship.  When they get to the island the Goodies go to the stockade.  The baddies go in search of the treasure.  An old pirate called Ben Gunn (Zion) who has been marooned, arrives and joins the gang.

Jim takes off and sails the ship around the island .  The pirates have nowhere to go.  There's a big fight .  The pirates are winning until they hear Ben Gunn  who they think is a ghost of Captain Flint.  Ben Gunn screams horribly..

They all run away and the goodies find the treasure and sail back to England.

My favourite part was when they fight in the stockade (because it has heaps of action and bravery).

My favourite character was Jim (Because he has a funny role).

My part in the show was the innkeeper, which I enjoyed a lot.

THE OLYMPICS

Athletes all over the world attend the Olympics that were in London
NZ performed really well.  They got 6 Golds, 2 Silvers and 5 Bronze with 13 medals all up.
My favourite event was the dirt BMX racing

NEW BUILDING

This morning the whole school went to see the opening of the new multi purpose room called Aniwaniwa which means Rainbow.  They chose that name because of the range of different skin colors.  We followed Whaea Gladys Taiangahue through the Building and ran our hands over the wall and we blessed it.  Then they unveiled a Tukutuku panel.
