TOKU MAHI NA JUSTIUS

Hi.. This is my Toku Mahi post which means My Work.  I'll be posting my online work for the year.  I hope you like it.  I'm a really cool dude and love playing XBox and other computer games.  I do my best to be friends with everyone.

8 March.  TURANGAWAEWAE FESTIVAL

Every year we have a festival to show off the many different cultures we have at our school.  We also use it to raise money for the school

We have lots of activities, food from all over, dancing and singing on the stage, games and the swimming pool is open.

My favourite activity was helping on the food stall.

OUR TRIP TO AWAROA

We are planning a trip to Awaroa to go for a long walk and visit a homestead.

AWAROA RECOUNTS

THE REASONS WE WENT ON THIS TRIP WERE: to learn about the history of Awaroa and improve our fitness.  

THE JOURNEY WENT : we started Kaiteriteri  and went on the boat to Awaroa.  

THE BENEFITS FOR ME WERE : were  going to the house and learning about the history

 

 

DUFFY PERFORMANCE.

Last week we went over to the Huia Clubrooms for a show about the Duffy Book stuff.  It was highly entertaining. and I enjoyed it.

 My book reviews  . title spcecial cecil main crarcters special cecil and his frinds seal star fish and smal fish and his shadow  . age suitable 6.   why i choose the book  and the rating the cover looked cool and the seal did to 5 stars  . setting the sea . day time 2006   . polt ceil the seal was afraid of the sea it was very big and a bit scary cecil couldnt swim thats one of the things that made him special

BOOK WEEK .

We have bookweek  because it is  a way of encouraging kids to read.  During the week we had people visit us and read us stories.  We also had Stop Everything and read.

On the Friday we came dressed up as book characters, especially pirates.  I dressed up as a castaway pirate.  We paraded through the town and then through the kindergarten.  We thank Becky for organizing the week.

THEATRE ROYAL

yesterday we went on a trip to the theatre royal in nelson.   It was about a girl who whants to be a firework.   Maker but her dad dosinet want her.   To because her dad is selfish and thinks hes better.   So the daughter  gos on a quest to get the royal sulpher.  And her friends try to help her but will she get it ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

                                     TREASURE ISLAND                                               

This story starts in the Admiral Benbow, an inn.  Jim  Hawkins (played by Quin) works there.  Billy Bones (played by Shanti) comes to stay.  He has a map.  He was once a pirate, a member of Captain Flint's crew.  He is visited by Black Dog(Stevie )who fights him.  Then the evil Blind Pew (Sasha ) comes and scares him to death.

Jim gets the map.  He gets the Goodies, Dr Livesey (Charlie ),  Mr Dance (Shannen ) and they hire a ship called the Hispaniola.  The captain is Captain Smollett (Makayla ) who gets Long John Silver (Madison ) to collect a crew.  Long John Silver is evil and one of Captain Flint's pirates.  He collects all the other pirates and away they sail.

On the trip Jim  hears of a plot to kill them.  When they get to the island the Goodies go to the stockade.  The baddies go in search of the treasure.  An old pirate called Ben Gunn (Zion ) who has been marooned, arrives and joins the goodies .

Jim takes off and sails the ship around the island.  The pirates have nowhere to go.  There's a big fight.  The pirates are winning until they hear Ben Gunn who they think is a ghost of Captain Flint.  Ben screams horribly..

They all run away and the goodies find the treasure and sail back to England.

My favourite part was the play

THE OLYMPICS

VIEW MEDAL TABLE  This year we did well.   We played a good game in London.   We got 13 medals.   Yah!!!

                     to day we went to the opening of the new room Aniwaniwa we sat down and waited for ten minutes then a person came whaea gladys and talked to us it was cool i listened to her then more people talked . we had to walked around the room it had a kitchen. we sat down and we got nice food like chocolate

AWAROA TRIP

Hello everybody.   We are going to Awaroa tomorrow on the Wilson's boat.

I heard that a lot of people go there.  When I heard that we were going I was so excited because this is going to be my first school trip.  A few weeks ago my teacher gave me some raffles to sell to pay for my ticket and I sold all three cards in two days!

Well it technically started from the school.

But it also started from Kaiteriteri

The highlights for me were:

The boat, the walk, the swim, a day away from the class room.   I loved it all.

Duffy Theater

Hello everybody.  It's me again.  Today I'm going to tell you about the Duffy Theater.  Ok to start things off I  started walking to the rugby club thinking it was going to be a normal assembly,  but when I stepped in I saw this big box and a person with a guitar, so I thought there might be a little show, but I was wrong.   5 Min's into the show I finally realised that it was not a little show but a full on show!  It definitely was not my favorite show but it had its funny parts.  When the show was over I was in great need for a stretch.  When I stood up my vision went blurry like it always does when I stand up too fast. so when I got back to class... to be honest I can't remember what happened after the show... anyway that's me signing off.

I chose this book because I remembered it from when I was five years old.

1) We have book week because we want to encourage kids and adults alike to read and to give one week for everybody to appreciate books.

2) During the week.  Miss Sefton read us a book called Nim's island.  We also watched the movie of Nim's island.  Another fun thing we did during the week was have Drop Everything and Read. It was fun because we got to skip out on some class time.


3) On Friday we did a parade around the town. it was fun because we got to dress up as pirates.

MARCO

Yesterday we had a visitor named Marco speak to the seniors and the intermediates.  He said a lot about magic and dragons and some other cool stuff.  When he first came in he said something about bringing your bag everywhere and to always have a bottle of water, a warm blanket, and a flashlight or as the English call it a torch.  He then said that he had a magic carpet in the bag. of course I did not believe him but was still curious what he meant.  he later on told us about the county on Bhutan. I learned that for many hundred years they believed that the dragon exists.  Then he told us if we had ever seen a kings crown a few people put their hands up but not me.  After that he said that we could touch the second king of Bhutan's crown! I was really excited at the thought of being able to touch a king's crown.
When he brought it out I just realized how beautiful it was.  It was embroidered with pure gold thread with dragons on it. We also got to touch the throne cover. It was awesome.

TOKU MAHI NA Bailey

Hi!   My name is Bailey.  I like to play cricket-tennis and other sorts of sports. When our class plays games one game in particular we play is Seftos.   It's like baseball but with a tennis racket and a tennis ball.  This year my goal is to  try to win the Delany sports cup person of the year!!

1 The Reasons we went on this trip were? 

To learn about Awaroa History - the way it works over at Awaroa . To explore, walk, look to find out about who lived in Awaroa and fitness.

2 The Journey went from?

Motueka - to Kaiteriteri - on to the Wilson's boat - then on our way to Awaroa. Then when we went on our walk, we went from Awaroa to Tonga Quarry - swim,  then Wilson's boat- 

arrived on to the boat - kaiteriteri - then Motueka and yeah.

3 The highlights for me were?

My highlights were the walk was different.   It took 2hr - 5min Some class mates really needed to go to the toilet. On the boat you get to sleep, cool breeze in your face. The walk was awesome.  Some Parklands kids tried to get in front of our tour guide whose name is Whitey. There were bridges that could only take 5 maximum on the bridge. We stopped to look at palm trees which had no nuts meaning they had no pineapples - or - coconuts. 

DUFFY THEATRE

Everybody got up out off their chairs. We all lined up outside the door and all walked through the courts   to the Huia football club we all sat down on the floor then waited for other classes to arrive. When everybody arrived they told us why to read and the characters were Duffy Scruffy and the best book in the world.   Actors Duffy and Scruffy did some wicked rapping, dance moves, and a cool DUFFY THEATRE.

BOOK REPORT

THE VERY ITCHY BEAR

This story is about Bear reading a book and flea bit's Itchy bear. Bear Itchy's high and low and ends up in the sea and wonders if flea is still with bear. But flea is reminding Bear that flea has not gone Anywhere!

SETTING:
Itchy Bear reads on a small log by the sea Then along comes Flea and bits bear to say hello. But Bear Itchy's to much that bear and flea  all flip and fall into the sea!

BOOK WEEK

WE have book week to promote kids to read and have fun while reading.
During The week after the morning tea bell everyone gets a book and reads for about half an hour.
THE PARADE: When everyone's in their costumes we meet together and get ready for the parade. We walk around town then cross the crossing then go through the kindergarden then across the crossing and into parklands school.Thank you Becky for organizing the fantastic book week.

In the London 2012 Olympics I watched 1st Aries Merritt 12.92 PB in 110m hurdles. He is very quick.

NEW BUILDING
This morning at 9:30 the whole school went to the new multi purpose room called Aniwaniwa means rainbow.we sat down listened to the teachers about the unveiling of the multi purpose room and who helped built it. we all claped and then listened to whaea tania tell the story of the rainbow colours. Then got handed out biscuits and went to morning tea.

On Friday the 24th of Febuary Parklands school had a multicultural festival.  It was loads of fun.  Room 1 and 2 had a Kiwiana stall where we sold ice-cream,punch,fizzy,cupcakes and lollies.YUM.

 Awaroa                                                         Friday the  16 March(tomorrow) we are going on a trip to Awaroa for the day.   I am looking forward to seeing the house. We are going there on the Wilson boat.  After we have seen the house and everything we are going on a long walk. I can't wait.

"Read,Read,Read your heart out" Yesterday we went to Duffy theatre. It was the coolest one yet .It was so funny.They made up a rap instead of "Teach me how duggy".It was "teach me how to Duffy". And instead of"Every day i'm shufferling"it was "every day i'm duffying".After a little bit later Duffy cracked a Nek minute joke"I was hiding under a book nek minute rippppppp".It was so cool!

On parade day we all dressed up in our Book Character costumes and paraded around the town.

This morning the whole school and some of the commumity came to parklands and saw the new buliding, Aniwaniwa meaning rainbow.  In order from smallest to biggest we went in the room we all had to were bear feet touching the walls blessing the hall, after we did that whaea Tanea told us a story about the rainbow fighting about who was the best then at the end BLACK came in and told them"together you are all the best ". Then they unveiled the moari patten the whanu made and some teachers then she came and gave every teacher a packet of biscits i got chocolate chipie, and then she came out with a pot of gold but instead of gold it was chocolate every one i got a fredo YUM!
