Hello. :)

My name is Hollie.  I am 12 years old.  My Toku Mahi post means. My Work.  This post will contain all my online work over the year. I hope you enjoy it.

I am into sports. I love to play Netball, Miniball and Volleyball.

I love swimming and running.

I have really supportive friends who encourage me to do things that I am really scared to try. :P

My goal for the year is to beat Kylee in breaststroke and freestyle, because she always beats me and now its time to beat her! :)

TURANGAWAEWAE FESTIVAL

Every year we celebrate the different cultures in our School by having a Multicultural festival. We have people that come to our school from all over the world. Different cultures dress up in traditional costumes on the day.  We have food stalls and fun games to play.  The things that I enjoyed most were the Jump Jam because I was in it, and the rock climbing wall.

AWAROA TRIP

What a beautiful site!

Tomorrow 16th of March room 1 & 2 are going on a school trip to Awaroa.  We are all very excited  to go.  We leave here at 9.00am and return at School at 6.00pm.  It will be a late night.  At School  we have been studying Awaroa and some of us have really enjoyed it! Our first stop is Kaiteriteri, then we get on a huge Wilsons boat. I am really looking forward to this day, which will be so much fun.

The reasons we went on this trip:

were to learn the history about Awaroa, we've been studying about it at School for days

The journey went from School at 8:30 when we left to Kaiteriteri.  We waited for 20 minutes on the beach for everyone to get on the big Wilson's boat.  It took about 2 hours to get to Awaroa because we had stops on the way.  We arrived there at 10:30.   We went for a walk up to the grave sites where Evered, Edle and William were buried. Then we walked up to the house and had a look around it,(it was huge) then we had lunch about 1:00.  After we had lunch we carried on to Tonga Quarry which took 3 hours and by the time we got there it was 4:00.  We got our togs on and went for a swim, where there were heaps of jellyfish and stingrays, so that put me off swimming.  30 minutes later the boat came to pick us up again, and it took us back to Kaiteriteri then drove back to school.  By the time we got home it was 6:30, so that was the end of our wonderful journey!  

The highlights for me were:

Doing the big walk to Tonga Quarry.

The benefits for me were:

Going back into the boat.

Touch Rugby

Yesterday 14th of March I had a game of Touch rugby. We played against Mot South school they were really easy because the score was 6 - 0 to us. I scored 2 tries 1 in the first half and 1 in the second half when the hooter went to stop the game but the ref said play on because I just got given the ball and I ran through a gap then all the boys and girls were diving at me.  At the time I felt scared because I thought I was going to kick them in the face but I didn't so that was a good thing, but the other good thing was I got a try right at the end! :) Afterwards everyone came up to me and said,  "Yah Hollie.   That was a mean as try" and they made me feel really good about it!

Book week book reviews

Title:  Miley Mania, Behind the scenes with Miley Cyrus.

Age suitable for: 9 and up

Setting (where and when): Disney studios - California USA

Plot (story): Destiny Hope Cyrus otherwise now known as Hannah Montana started her first shows in 2006 for the Disney Channel.  Miley knows that she is very lucky as her costars are some of her very best friends and they are Emily Osment ( Lilly/Lola), Mitchel Musso  (Oliver), Jason Earles (Jackson) and Billy Ray- Cyrus (Robbie).  Hannah Montana has the story of a young girl who lives a normal life, with a very special secret she's a ROCKSTAR!

Main characters: Miley (Hannah Montana), Emily (Lilly/Lola), Mitchel (Oliver), Jason (Jackson) and Billy Ray Cyrus (Robbie Ray Cyrus).

Your chosen character and why: Miley Cyrus because she always dresses nice (funky) and has nice hair.

Why you chose this book and what your ratings are: Because Hannah Montana Forever is one of my favourite TV shows.  And this book has lots of information 

about her ROCKSTAR life.  My ratings are 4 out of 5.

BOOK WEEK

Me.(Tinkerbell)

We have book week because to learn about reading.
Durning the week we made book posters about one of the books we enjoy and know lots of information about.  We also read a story about Nims island, then we watched the movie.
On Friday we had the parade and I dressed up  as Tinkerbell from Peter Pan.  We walked through the Kindy and showed all the little kids our costumes and we also walked through town it was cool.

Book week 2012 Hollie & Kylee on PhotoPeach

Theatre Royal On Wednesday 13th June rooms 1,2,3 &4 went to see the Fireworks maker daughter it was so cool because it contained real fire, fireworks and streamers. When you didn't expect fireworks the went off.  When we sat down and 5 minutes into the show a huge firework went off and gave me a huge fright!

   

                                                                                                                              TREASURE ISLAND

This story starts in the Admiral Benbow, an inn.  Jim  Hawkins (played by Quin) works there.  Billy Bones (played by Shanti) comes to stay.  He has a map.  He was once a pirate, a member of Captain Flint's crew.  He is visited by Black Dog(Stevie )who fights him.  Then the evil Blind Pew (Sasha ) comes and scares him to death.

Jim gets the map. He gets the Goodies, Dr Livesey (Charlie ),  Mr Dance (Shannen ) and they hire a ship called the Hispaniola.  The captain is Captain Smollett (Makayla ) who gets Long John Silver (Madison ) to collect a crew.  Long John Silver is evil and one of Captain Flint's pirates.  He collects all the other pirates and away they sail.

On the trip Jim  hears of a plot to kill them. When they get to the island the Goodies go to the stockade. The baddies go in search of the treasure.  An old pirate called Ben Gunn (Zion ) who has been marooned, arrives and joins the goodies .

Jim takes off and sails the ship around the island.  The pirates have nowhere to go.  There's a big fight.  The pirates are winning until they hear Ben Gunn who they think is a ghost of Captain Flint.  Ben screams horribly..

They all run away and the goodies find the treasure and sail back to England.

The show as a whole was awesome, especially the dancing.

We thank the producer Smiddey and all the helpers.

My favourite part was The end because all the pirates had to go home and they found the treasure. My favourite character was  Blind Pew because he is a funny evil character and looks like Michael Jackson.                                                                                                                

 

Ben Gunn is looking for something

New Building.

This morning (29 of October 2012) Parkland's School went round to watch the opening ceremony for the multipurpose room. At the start of term 3 the builders demolished rooms 10 & 11. The builders have been working very hard on it for half a year now they have done such a great job on it. The real name for the multipurpose room is Aniwaniwa.  After the Whanau performed their waitia (a.k.a their song) starting from the little kids one by one we lined up and blessed the room by feeling it all around, they turned Miss Melmes room into a kitchen ( pretty amazing ).  After we blessed the room Whaea Tania, Whaea Sue Hinekura and Selena all revoled the Tuku, Tuku of the picture they all  worked pretty hard on it.  Its amazing
